Duffy, who is also the regular PA announcer at Oriel Park on match nights, says he hopes that his efforts can raise funds for the hospice with the current bid at the time of going to press being tabled at €250.

Those interested can place a bid by emailing Michael at mgduffy@iol.ie or by private messaging him on his Facebook page with bidding being closed at 5pm on Friday, February 14 which is the day of the Tommy McConville Memorial Match.

He said of the painting: “In recent times I have been painting Irish icons and Tommy is the most majestic player ever to grace Oriel Park so it was inevitable that I would end up painting him.

“All the money raised will go to the North Louth Hospice and hopefully we can raise a bit of money for this very worthy cause in Tommy’s memory.”
