A last gasp equaliser from Azzez Ogunfowora salvaged a draw for Glenmuir United in a six goal thriller on Saturday afternoon in the race for second spot in the U15 Premier Division.
The early exchanges were evenly matched but that changed when Glenmuir took the lead in the 10th minute when the unmarked Caolan Dines headed home Chad McEneaney’s in-swinging corner kick.
Things got even better for them when Conor Nicholson added a second for the home side eight minutes later with a powerful left footed shot from the edge of the penalty area which gave the goalkeeper no chance.
It stayed that way for the remainder of the half as Glenmuir led 2-0 at the break but the sides were level within minutes after the restart after a strong start by Bellurgan; Adam Finnegan headed past Mark Byrne in the first minute of the second half and Coran Lyndsay made it 2-2 minutes later from close range, stunning Glenmuir who looked like they had been so comfortable in the first half.
Bellurgan quickly pushed on and with the Glenmuir defence still reeling from the shock of conceding two early goals the away side went 2-3 ahead; Joseph Quinn picked up a loose ball outside the area before smashing a fine shot to the far corner and it looked like an incredible comeback could very much be a possibility.
Glenmuir were stunned, but they worked tirelessly to get back on level terms, never giving in and just as it looked like the break would never come, Azzez Ogunfowora burst through the Bellurgan defence to fire past McDonald in the final minute of the game to win his side a point in a classic contest.
