Glenmuir United were 2-0 ahead at half time and looked a safe bet for three points but Ardee Celtic produced a brilliant comeback in this thrilling U14 Premier clash on Sunday afternoon. Peter McStravick opened the scoring in the 14th minute when he fired low past Gavin Kirk.
Tristan Knowles went close for Ardee but was denied by Mark Byrne who had to dive full length to tip the ball around the post but Glenmuir scored a second goal on the half hour mark when McStravick pounced on a defensive error in the Ardee back four and fired to the roof of the Ardee net.
The visitors deservedly got back into the game on 43 minutes when Knowles supplied a tidy finish under the body of Mark Byrne.
Ardee showed great determination and were pressing Glenmuir for every ball and Knowles was unlucky a few minutes later when his free-kick was pushed on to the crossbar by Byrne.
They tied up the score at 2-2 in the 58th minute when Liam Jackson’s deep cross slipped out of the hands of Mark Byrne and crept over the line.
Ardee then went 2-3 ahead when the lively Neil Kerr was upended in the box and Tristan Knowles hammered home from the penalty spot.
The three points were heading for Ardee but back came Glenmuir in the final minute and Jason Cullen burst through the Ardee defence to bend the ball around the advancing Gavin Kirk to level the game at 3-3.
