The LMFM Kilmessan Shield quarter-finals begin this weekend when Woodview Celtic play host to Duleek on Sunday afternoon.

The game will be part of LMFM’s Sunday Sport programme and will kick-off at 2.30pm in Glenmuir. Oriel Park is on stand by if the pitch at Hoey’s Lane is unplayable.

Woodview Celtic currently sit top of the MDL Premier Divison table and they have put together an impressive run to date in the Shield, a competition they won as part of the treble in 2012.

Pitted in Group 9, Raymond Trimble’s men secured their place in the knockout stages thanks to a 5-2 win over Oldcastle United - goals coming from Stephen Grimes, Stephen Fisher, Owen Armstrong, Mickey O’Kane and Paul Warnock - in their first outing before strikes from Keith Finnegan and Drew Duffy were enough to see off Slane Wanderers and book a place in the 2nd round.

A derby day clash with Quay Celtic lay in wait and Stephen Fisher and Paudie Hearty did the damage against their old club to set up Sunday’s last eight meeting with Duleek.

The Meath side ended Woodview’s title challenge in a pulsating encounter at the Tollstone at the back end of last season and this will be the first time the sides have met in the 2013-2014 campaign.

Tony Grant’s side currently sit 10 points behind Woodview in the league table but they do have three games in hand so this promises to be a closely fought encounter.
