Not for the first time this season Ardee Celtic’s failure to turn possession into goals cost them dearly as they went down 5-1 a home to Boca Rovers at Townspark.

Having dominated the first-half and seen Gatis Logins and Kenny McKenna miss clear cut chances when through one on one with the Boca goalkeeper, Ardee were punished in first-half injury time when the visitors scored from a free-kick.

The Deesiders dominated possession in the early stages of the second-half but in the visitors first attack they doubled their lead when a wicked deflection deceived goalkeeper Declan Butler.

Ardee reduced the deficit when Robbie Coyle struck a beauty but Boca attacked directly from the restart and the home side were caught cold as they made it 3-1.

For the remainder of the half Ardee couldn’t get the goals that their play deserved and as they threw men forward in the final minutes two quickfire Boca goals put a flattering look on the scoreboard.

Ardee Celtic: Declan Butler, Aaron Knowles (Jamie Myles), Niall Eccles, Robbie Coyle, Jamie Rooney, Gatis Logins, Robbie Reynolds, Neil McLaughlin (Conor Osbourne), Alan Quigley (James McMullen), Kenny McKenna, Dean McLaughlin.
