Bellurgan United picked up three points on the road on Sunday last as they returned from the MDL Grounds in Navan with a 4-2 win in the bag.
Playing with the advantage of a strong wind Bellurgan opened the scoring on 15 minutes when Darren Gaynor scored with from a header.
Longwood drew level five minutes later when a long punt caused a mix up between goalkeeper Robert Arthur and Ciaran Casey and the latter knocked the ball into his own net.
Bellurgan were on top and when Darren Gaynor was upended in the penalty area his brother Dean took the resulting penalty only for the Longwood keeper to make a brilliant save.
The visitors went 2-1 up ten minutes into the second half when Jason Brennan delivered a pinpoint cross to the back post and Ciaran Rogan arrived a pace to head to the net.
Brennan was involved in Bellurgan’s third goal when he combined with Owen Traynor and Gavin Long for the latter to swing in a delivery to Darren Gaynor and from 10-yards he headed to the roof of the net to make it 3-1.
The peninsula side were well in control and it was no surprise when they added a fourth goal when Traynor and Dean Gaynor worked an excellent one two for Jonathan Winters to arrived unmarked to slot the ball home before the home side managed a late consolation.
