Caoimhin Leonard came back to haunt his old club Shamrocks when he scored a dramatic equaliser for Quay Celtic in the final minute of this U15 clash in Fatima on Sunday afternoon.

Shamrocks were 2-1 in front and were looking to see out the final moments but Quay kept searching for an equaliser and they got their reward when Killian Staunton was fouled just outside the penalty area and Leonard found the top corner of the net with a sublime strike with everybody expecting him to send over a cross.

Eugene Farrell had fired Shamrocks into an 11th minute lead after finding the net with a rasping shot from over 20-yards but two minutes later Quay Celtic levelled through Vinny Smith from the penalty spot.

Shamrocks were unlucky not to retake the lead on 23 minutes when Aaron Casey’s header bounced off the top of the Quay Celtic crossbar.

The Fatima team had the advantage of the gale force wind in the second half and Liam Gray, Kyle Rafferty and Owen McDonald all tested Quay Celtic ‘keeper Keylen Gorham in the first 20 minutes while at the other end a Danny O’Brien effort for Quay just flashed wide of the Shamrocks post.

Shamrocks went 2-1 ahead 22 minutes into the second half when Paddy McAuley set up Eugene Farrell who hooked the ball over the advancing Quay Celtic keeper and Owen McDonald should have increased their lead soon after but his shot went flying over the crossbar. The home side would regret that miss when Caoimhin Leonard blasted home the free kick in the last minute to give his side a share of the points.
