A goal each from strike duo Alan Carr and Ben Kapinga handed Quay Celtic the perfect start to the new U14 Premier Division season at the Army Grounds on Sunday morning.
The lively Carr opened the scoring after only 14 minutes while his strike partner Kapinga added the insurance strike 12 minutes into the second half as Quay Celtic got their season off the mark in decent style.
Glenmuir battled but were unable to break down a solid home defence; Conor Keenan’s free kick midway through the second half did beat Quay Celtic ‘keeper Luke Savage but defender Ronan Bailey was in the right place to head the ball off the line.
Glenmuir were to get no reward for their efforts and Quay finished the stronger and rallied late on and Tiernan Mallon’s goal bound effort was turned round the post by Mark Byrne in the closing stages.

Dundalk Winter League AGM
The Annual General Meeting of the Dundalk Winter League will take place on Tuesday September 24 in Byrne’s of Hill St at 7pm.
As suggested at the preliminary meeting, the league is looking at the possibility of a two division format in the league with promotion and relegation coming into effect.
As usual there is great interest shown, with a number of new teams applying for entry. It is very important that a full representation is present and only those in attendance will be considered.
It may require to start off a week early in late September due to pressure of time but that will be decided on the night.
Looking forward to another sporting season and renewing acquaintances.
