Tuesday was another successful day with the lads beating off the challenge of the Longford League with an impressive 2-0 win with Cillian Cunningham bagging both goals.

Wednesday proved a tougher day as Dundalk suffered a 1-4 defeat to the Limerick District League; Sean Maguire scoring Dundalk’s only goal on this occasion.

This result meant that Dundalk ended up in 2nd place in their group and proceeded into the Bowl quarter-finals where the lads bounced back to defeat the South Dublin League 1-0 on Wednesday evening. Sean Maguire again netting the vital goal.

Dundalk’s luck ran out in the Bowl Semi-final on Thursday where they lost out 3-0 to eventual Bowl winners Cavan/Monaghan. The lads were well in the game and had their chances including a controversial disallowed goal but matters weren’t helped when they were later reduced to 10 men.

Dundalk’s last match was against the West Cork League in the Bowl play-offs. The lads rallied once more to record a excellent 2-1 win with Eolann Aiken and Aaron Casey getting on the scoresheet. This result ensured a very respectable overall finish of 11th place in the tournament - out of 32 Leagues entered.

Overall the players gave a fantastic account of themselves and were a credit to the Dundalk Schoolboys League. Their effort and commitment all season was second to none.

The team spirit in the camp was brilliant all week in Limerick and lads will have many great memories from their time together. Credit to coaches and mentors Gerry Cooney, John McKeever, Adrian Conlon and Barney Connolly.

A huge thanks too to all the parents who travelled to matches during the season and to Limerick last week to support the team and to everyone who supported the various fundraising events held throughout the season. Your support is greatly appreciated. Well done everybody involved.
