Ardee Celtic stretched their lead at the top of the U15 Premier Division with this comprehensive win over Shamrocks in Fatima on Saturday afternoon.

It was a late late show from the Ardee side as they scored all four goals in the final ten minutes and for long periods of the game it looked like Shamrocks would cause an upset from the amount of chances they had created.

Ardee were strong favourites going into the game but they were unable to break down a well organised and stubborn home defence and the Shamrocks team got more confident as the game progressed.

The Ardee ‘keeper David Anderson produced two outstanding saves to deny Owen Smith from breaking the deadlock for Shamrocks in the 20th and 23rd minutes of the second half.

Ardee defender David Cluskey blocked another goal-bound effort from Smith soon after as the home side pressed for a lead goal.

The league leaders then showed the reason they are sitting at the top of the table. Luke Keenan’s fierce effort struck the Shamrocks crossbar then Shaun Dowdall’s clever pass set up Callum Corrigan and his effort just cleared the top of the crossbar.

It was a sign of things to come and the deadlock was finally broken by Ardee when Eolann Aiken’s superb cross from the bye-line was hammered home by Aaron Doolan and the same player soon made it 0-2 with a close range finish after good play from Luke Keenan.

Credit to Shamrocks for a battling performance but Ardee added two further strikes by David Cluskey and Phelim McQuillan to settle the outcome and take home three valuable points.
