Former Dundalk FC player and current Head of Youth Development and U19 boss, Martin Connolly, has been named as the club’s new general manager.
His appointment was confirmed by Dundalk FC chairman, Ciaran Bond, who said Connolly’s appointment would help to alleviate the pressure on the club’s current board of management.
“One of the biggest problems we have as a management committee is that we are all volunteers and we all have our own jobs,” he said.
“Last year, the workload on every one of us was too great. We were heading towards the end of the season and were looking forward to it coming to an end!
“There were so many things to organise in such a short period of time and there was a lot of time and effort put in by everybody. For our own sake, and to alleviate the burden on the people who do work in Oriel Park, we needed somebody to be up there full time.
“Martin fits the bill perfectly. He is at Oriel Park a few days a week anyway because of his work with the underage structures so to employ him in the general manager role was an easy choice. We are delighted to have him in that position.”
A former player, goalkeeping coach and first-team coach, Connolly will continue in his role as Head of Youth Development and U19 manager.
