Muirhevnamor suffered a heavy 6-1 defeat to Boyle Celtic at home on Sunday afternoon as they exited the FAI Junior Cup at the 5th round stage.

The visitors who are a well organised outfit stayed overnight in town in preparation for the game having travelled up from Roscommon.

Boyle led 2-0 at half time in a game that saw both teams have an even share of the ball however when the visitors created their opportunities to score they took full advantage.

The second half saw the Roscommon side up the ante and they added four further goals from clinical finishing once they had a sight of goal with the home side grabbing a consolation goal from an excellent David Mahoney effort.

However, it was not enough to dampen the mood of the visitors who made the long journey west in fine spirits as they march into the last 32 with their goals in Dundalk coming from Shane Battles’ hatrick, James Carthy’s double and a Niall Brennan effort in this emphatic win.

MUIRHEVNAMOR: David Cooney, Derek Moran, Thomas Conway (David Mahoney), Jimmy Cooney, Adrian Rafferty, Philip Duffy (Michael Bergin), Des Rogers (Conor Gorman), Sean Conlon, Gary Clarke, Brendan Hughes, Barry O’Hare.
