Rilwan Ibrahim struck the winning goal ten minutes from full time to earn Shamrocks all three points against Ardee Celtic on Saturday afternoon in Fatima.

It was the visitors who started brighter and they almost took the lead with Neil Kerr crashing a shot from 25 yards off the top of the Shamrocks crossbar in the 3rd minute.

Shamrocks took time to settle but they went close to scoring in the 17th minute when Nathan Mulligan set-up Luca Grennan but Ardee goalkeeper Mark Ward produced a good save to deny Grennan. The hosts went ahead soon after when Wayne Boland sneaked in behind the Ardee defence and his shot beat the advancing Ward to go 1-0 ahead.

Ardee deservedly equalised on the stroke of half-time with a crisp shot from Tristan Knowles found the bottom corner of the Shamrocks net.

The away side upped their game after the break and enjoyed a 10 minute period of possession and almost took the lead from another Tristan Knowles shot but this time Ryan Watters produced a good save to deny him. At the other end, a Cian Myles free-kick flew inches wide of the Ardee goals.

Both sides pressed for a winner and it was the home side who came up trumps when Rilwan Ibrahim got on the end of a James Clinton pass to poke the ball past Mark Ward.

Neil Kerr had a chance to equalise for Ardee in the closing minutes when he skipped past the last defender but his shot found the side netting.
