Clinical finishing from Quay Celtic U15s saw them easily account for Ardee Celtic with a 6-2 victory at Clancy Park on Saturday afternoon. It sends Quay four points clear at the top of the U15 Premier Division table.
Fergal Mulholland rose unchallenged to head home Sean O’Hanlon’s corner in the 29th minute and on the half hour mark Gavin Smith played a clever pass to Shane Byrne on the left side of the penalty area and he raced clear and hammered the ball past Niall McDonnell.
John Callaghan pulled one back for Ardee on the stroke of half time when his free kick curled into the top corner. Quay edged further ahead when Conor McGailey scored with a back post header made it 4-1 on 47 minutes.
Lee Kavanagh extended the Quay advantage six minutes later with a neat shot inside the penalty area at the other end Callaghan’s corner kick was slotted home by Mark Whelan to make it 4-2 but McGailey grabbed his second and his side’s sixth on 68 minutes when he raced into the penalty area before unleashing an unstoppable effort past Niall McDonnell.
