Richie Towell says his side were unhappy not to come away from their clash with St Pat’s with maximum points last Friday night.

“It’s disappointing because we want to win every game,” he admitted. “We know we can beat them but against the champions, it isn’t the worst result.

“They have some quality players but we had to concentrate on ourselves and I thought we played well enough to win but couldn’t score.”

There was a late scare for the home crowd when the midfielder went down clutching his hamstring but he should recover quickly.

“I had been on antibiotics all week with a chest infection so maybe it was just some dehydration kicking in,” revealed Towell. “I never get cramp so it was a bit of a shock to the system but I was okay to come back on so I should be fine.”

The Saints stalemate means the Lilywhites top the table from Cork City by three points although the Leesiders have a game in hand.

“Points on the board are better than a game in hand so hopefully we can hit the ground running again when we get back after the break which I think we deserve after working extremely hard.”
