Muirhevnamor and Redeemer played out a 0-0 draw at the Dundalk Sports Centre on a wet and miserable Saturday morning in the only U11 fixture played due to the extreme weather over the weekend.
With nearly all games called off, referee Niall Minto allowed this encounter to go ahead, although a torrential downpour early in the second-half left the referee with no option but to end the game early with both sides happy with a point each.
Muirhevnamor had the majority of possession in the first-half and created several chances early in the game.
David Osobe burst through the centre of the Redeemer defence in the 2nd minute but poked his shot wide of the post. Redeemer keeper Michael Doyle then produced a terrific save in the 6th minute to prevent Muirhevnamor’s Gabriel Ayous from breaking the deadlock. The Muirhevnamor player’s free-kick took a wicked bounce at the last second but Doyle reacted very sharply to clear the danger.
The away side did come in the game and created a good scoring opportunity in the 12th minute when Kieran Mackin fired in a rasping effort that flew inches wide of the Muirhevnamor post.
Dylan McGuill was unlucky not to open the scoring for Muirhevnamor in the 21st minute but his well struck effort was bravely blocked by Redeemer defender Cameron Hayes.
Sean Cassidy and David Osobe threatened for Muirhevnamor early in the second-half as both sides braved the terrible conditions but the torrential downpour made it impossible for the players to perform and the referee made the right decision to end the game early.
