Rock Celtic recorded a facile 8-0 win over Rathkenny in the Tully Bookmakers Cup at Sandy Lane on Friday night.
Gerry McSorley opened the scoring with the first of his four goals after just 10 minutes when he was set up by the outstanding Michael Osobe.
Two further goals quickly followed as McSorley completed his hat-trick before he scored the goal of the game, finishing off a brilliant team effort that saw each Rock player get at least one touch on the ball before the Rathkenny rigging was rattled.
Goal number five arrived before the break via the boot of Derek Delany after more good work from Osobe.
Ten minutes into the second-half Delany added his second goal from Paddy Quinn’s assist to make it 6-0.
David Ward then got in on the act with a sublime piece of skill after he controlled John Rogers’ long punt forward after the Seasiders goalkeeper had gathered the ball from a rare Rathkenny corner-kick.
To the visitors credit they continued to battle but Paddy Reilly mopped up their best efforts with ease as he easily controlled the Rock half of the field.
Before the final whistle sounded to end the agony for the visitors David Ward added goal number eight after excellent play involving Mark McGeown and Cormac McArdle.
