A SHOCK appeared to be on the cards when lowly Carrick Rovers opened the scoring against MDL Premier Division league leaders Woodview Celtic at Birdy Development Park on Sunday.
The game was only 12 minutes old when Brian Marron finished off a move involving Shane McDaniel and Eamonn Lynch but Woodview bounced back to ease out simple winners on a 4-1 scoreline.
Gavin McKeever’s side drew level when Keith Finnegan powered a header to the net from a Paudie Hearty delivery and they went 2-1 up from another headed goal when Hearty got on the end of John Smyth’s accurate corner kick.
The visitors added a third goal midway through the second half when Mickey O’Kane fired home after good work between Paul McArdle and Drew Duffy had created the chance.
And minutes later Owen Armstrong was on target as he finished a delicate pass from Ray McCann off in style to complete the scoring.
Woodview Celtic: Padraig Gorham, Ray McCann, Alan McCartney, Keith Finnegan, Drew Duffy, Owen Armstrong, Paul McArdle, Stephen Grimes, Alan Larkin, Paudie Hearty, Mickey O’Kane, John Smith (Conor Murphy), Paul Warnock, Anto Reilly.
