Barry Kavanagh helped himself to six goals as Muirhevnamor suffered a horrendous 10-0 defeat away to Duleek in the Integral Fitness MDL Premier Division on Sunday.
Despite enjoying an equal share of play, Sean Dixon’s side somehow found themselves 5-0 down at the break by a clinical Duleek who will still have designs on catching Woodview Celtic at the top of the table.
Every time the home side had a shot on goal it ended up in the visitors net with goalkeeper David Cooney helpless to prevent each of the 10 efforts from flying past him.
Duleek, with the vastly experienced duo of Tony Grant and Barry Kavanagh leading the line, struck a purple patch that was reflected in the final scoreline.
The second-half was no different. Muirhevnamor attempted to stop the onslaught but they had no answer as the home side’s inspired performance showed no signs of letting up.
Grant’s side added a further five goals to hand the visitors one of the heaviest defeats in the club’s illustrious history.
That result means that Muirhevnamor remain in fifth place in the league table with Duleek two places ahead in third.
They currently trail leaders Woodview by seven points but do have two games in hand on the table-toppers.
