A superb free-kick from Muirhevnamor midfield player Conor Sage 20 minutes into the second-half saw his team earn a share of the points in this U15 clash under the lights in Muirhevnamor on Wednesday night.
Woodview created the more clear cut chances on the night and looked the more likely team to take all three points but they had a player sent off a due to a professional foul in the 63rd minute and had to defend deeply in the closing stages to save a point.
From the opening few minutes it was clear that Woodview were keen to take the initiative. They dominated the early exchanges to put early pressure on the home team.
The lively and skilful Shane Duffy threatened every time he got on the ball. He created two early chances for Ciaran McCarthy and Thomas Lindsay but both strikes were wide of the target. Muirhevnamor were restricted to a few long range efforts from Matthew Egan and Ryan McKenna that were capably dealt with by goalkeeper Luke Murphy.
Woodview should have been ahead by half-time. Shane Duffy smashed a shot off the Muirhevnamor post in the 19th minute and two good saves by Pauric McConville denied the Woodview striker before the break.
Duffy finally got his reward two minutes after the break when he hooked the ball over the advancing McConville to put his team 0-1 ahead.
The sides were level two minutes later when Matthew Egan timed his run to perfection after he ran on to a pass from Ryan McKenna to slot low past McConville.
Woodview then went 1-2 in front when Shane Duffy raced past several defenders and then picked out the unmarked Thomas Lindsay who slotted past McConville.
Conor Sage’s well struck free-kick then brought the sides level at 2-2 in the 55th minuten.
Woodview keeper Luke Murphy then received a red card when he ran out of his area to crash straight into a Muirhevnamor striker; the resulting free by Conor Sage was blocked on the goal line.
