Quay Celtic remain in trouble at the bottom end of Division One following a 1-0 loss away to Navan Town on Sunday.
The Clancy Park outfit gave as good as they got early on but it was the home side who opened the scoring in the 25th minutes and they shaded the remainder of the half despite having a man sent off after he had taken umbrage to a challenge by Quay left-back Sean Matthews.
The second-half opened with manager Donal Greene’s advice still ringing in the ears of the Quay players’ ears and his side responded in excellent fashion as they took the game by the scruff of the neck.
The Point Road side totally dominated possession and laid siege to the Cosmos goal with Dean Sheil seeing an effort brilliantly saved by the home goalkeeper.
Robbie Gavigan also saw an effort test the goalkeeper and a super 40-yard strike from Liam McKenny grazed the crossbar as that elusive goal just evaded Greene’s men.
Quay Celtic: Berraat Tucker, Ronan Cunningham (Vinnie Smith), Liam McKenny, Michael McDonnell, Sean Matthews, Paddy Connor, Jonathan Winters, Robbie Gavigan, Gavin Donnelly, Niall Ferguson (Stefan Zolopka), Dean Sheil.
