U13 title favourites and last season’s U12 Premier Division champions Quay Celtic showed good early season form to overwhelm last season’s First Division champions St Dominic’s at the Friary Field on Saturday morning.

In the end Quay ran out easy winners but St Dominic’s made them work hard for the points, especially in the first period mainly thanks to superb goalkeeping from Jacob Rygielski.

Quay Celtic striker Mark Agnew was a constant threat to the home defence and he eventually opened the scoring on 22 minutes when he latched on to a Kyle Watters pass.

The away side added a second before half-time when Agnew’s cross was headed home by the impressive Keith Dollard.

It was all over early in the second-half when Shay Coleman scored two quick goals in a three minute spell of constant Quay Celtic pressure and Kyle Watters made it 5-0 when he curled a delightful shot past Rygielski to round off a perfect start to the season for last year’s champs.

St Dominic’s: Jacob Rygielski, Callum Mulholland, Tom Watkins, Aaron Crawford, Conall Brady, Alex McGorrian, Gareth Burns, Brian Brady, Rory Knipe, Conor Knipe, Fionn Cumiskey, Jack McBride.

Quay Celtic: Odhran Coburn, Dylan Cathlin, Eddie Maguire, Conor Smith, Michael Staunton, Kyle Watters, Thomas Rice, Dylan McKeown, Aaron Mackin, Mark Agnew, Keith Dollard and Shay Coleman.

Referee: Colm McConville.
