Fatima was the venue for the final league game of the U14 Division One season on Sunday.
Champions Glenmuir wanted to finish the season a high and remain un-beaten in the second half of the season and they almost took the lead early on when Timmy O’s struck rebounded off the crossbar and Cameron McKeown placed the rebound wide of the post.
Shamrock showed their intentions to make a game of this and only for a smart save from Glenmuir goalkeeper Conor Byrne they would have gone 1-0 up.
15 minutes into the game and Shane Byrne, Glenmuir’s centre-forward took on the Shamrocks defence and drove into the box. Shane was taken down and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Shane dusted himself down and took the penalty, sending the keeper the wrong way to put Glenmuir in front.
With the game ticking to the final minute Glenmuir put the result to bed when Conor Kilkenny took the ball down and fired a shot first time into the top right hand corner leaving Ryan Woods with no chance.
All that was left on the day was for the presentation of the trophy to Glenmuir Celtic and up stepped capitan Cameron McKeown to receive the league trophy on behalf of his club and team members.
