Quay Celtic’s U15 Premier Division side lost their 100% record after conceding a last gasp equaliser to a determined Bellurgan side in this thrilling encounter in Clancy Park on Saturday afternoon.

Quay are still four points clear of their nearest challengers Glenmuir United with 31 points from their 11 games played so far but will be disappointed to have lost two points, and with it their winning streak, so close to the finishing line in this game.

Bellurgan got off to a terrific start when Ciaran Lyndsay gave them a shock lead when he fired into the bottom corner in the first minute to stun the home side.

The sides were level on 16 minutes when Adam Hooper threaded a superb pass through to Shane Byrne who slotted past the advancing Lee McDonnell.

Bellurgan regained the lead early in the second half when Andy Curley’s clearance took a wicked deflection and landed at the feet of Aaron Devlin who hammered home to put Bellurgan 1-2 ahead.

Shane Byrne then scored his second goal of the game when he managed to latch on to a Sean O’Hanlon cross to stroke the ball past McDonnell to make it 2-2 and soon after the home side went 3-2 ahead when Hooper showed great pace and power to race clear and fire into the back of the net for a goal which looked as though it would be enough to make safe another three points.

However, back came a determined Bellurgan to salvage a share of the points right at the end when Joseph Quinn pounced on an error in the home defence to finish from close range.
