Both defences were on top in the first half with the sides still level at 0-0 at the half-time whistle but the Monasterboice side scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the second half with goals from Keith Carraher and Brendan Haak to go 0-2 ahead.

The home side squandered several chances but eventually reduced the deficit in the 59th minute when Adam Larrigan’s shot was blocked by Albion defender Shane Morgan and the loose ball fell to Sean Savage who made no mistake from six-yards.
