Dane delighted after another golden goal in the west
Last year it was a wondergoal volley from 35-yards. This year a scrappy injury time header. But Dane Massey does not care how his winning goals at The Showgrounds go in, as long as they do.

Last year it was a wondergoal volley from 35-yards. This year a scrappy injury time header. But Dane Massey does not care how his winning goals at The Showgrounds go in, as long as they do.

Speaking outside a delighted Dundalk dressing room afterwards, he could hardly contain his joy: “Two years in a row here, both 1-0 wins, its unbelievable, I’m buzzing. With the conditions, we were happy to get away with that. It was a good header back across from Andy and I was just lucky to be in the right spot.

“It wasn’t as good as the one last year but I don’t care! A goal is a goal. It means three points and home which is what we wanted,” he smiled.

Massey revealed they have been working on their set plays and also paid tribute to the side for continuing to show spirit late in games to pull off results.

“We have worked quite a lot on set-pieces. Once we could get a few corners in, we were hopeful we could create a chance or two from them which we did at the end,” continued the man nicknamed ‘Lionel’ by the Dundalk support.
