Rock Celtic went 13 points clear at the top of the U14 Premier Division on Tuesday night with a stunning 1-5 win over Glenmuir Celtic.

Aidan Curtain will take the headlines after completing a 12-minute second half hat-trick as Rock Celtic were full value for their victory. There was an early scare for Rock when Glenmuir created a chance on 12 minutes with a Jack McKenna header and Ciaran McMahon was very unlucky to see his fierce drive crash off the Rock Celtic crossbar on 21 minutes.

The away side did have the majority of possession and up front Kizito Ekwueme and Curtain were constantly moving and asking plenty of questions of the Glenmuir back four. Ekwueme finally broke the deadlock in the 24th minute when he forced his way past several defenders, keeping his composure under pressure to finish well and Mark Gaughran doubled Rock’s advantage five minutes later when he seized on a defensive error to find the bottom corner with his right foot.

Curtain took centre stage in the second half when he probably scored the quickest hat-trick of the season with three goals in the first 12 minutes after the break to put Rock 0-5 ahead. Curtain’s first goal in the 38th minute was a free kick from the left wing that simply evaded everyone and nestled in the back of the net and three minutes later the Blackrock striker scored from another very similar set-piece and he completed his hat-trick on 50 minutes with a superb left footed shot from the edge of the Glenmuir penalty area.

Glenmuir to their credit, never stopped and were rewarded on 76 minutes when Jamie Farrell latched on to a Jack McKenna pass to hammer home from 14 yards for a consolation.
