The home side opened the scoring on 25 minutes when Ryan Dillon controlled Shane O’Callaghan’s long clearance to set up Brendan Hughes who hammered the ball past John Rogers.

The visitors had a chance to draw level when Derek Delany put David Ward in with just goalkeeper Michael Cooney to beat but he failed to take advantage as he shot wide of goal.

Ger McSorley then suffered the same fate when he had a clear sight of goal but he too failed test the ‘keeper.

With five minutes of the half remaining the home side went 2-0 up when Philip Duffy, with a free-kick from all of 40-yards out,struck a screamer to the roof of the net.

In the opening minutes of the second half a clearance from Cooney almost caught his opposite number off his line as his long clearance left Rogers backpedalling to somehow tip the ball over his bar.

The home side added the all important insurance goal on 75 minutes when Thomas McShane and Gary Clarke cleverly combined for Clarke to drill the ball across the face of the goal to McShane who gleefully hammered the ball to the back of the net and round off the scoring.
