A wonder goal from Shea McArdle in the 6th minute got Woodview off to a flying start in their U15 League match away to Quay Olympic on Saturday morning.
McArdle pounced on a loose ball from at least 25-yards out and he cracked an unstoppable shot past Adam Molloy in the Quay Olympic goal.
Woodview’s joy was short lived as Dan Keane quickly set up Liam McFadden at the other end to fire past Luke Murphy into the top corner for the equaliser within two minutes and Keane soon made it 2-1 for the home side when he slotted past Murphy in the 10th minute.
Keane went on to complete a first half hat-trick when he headed home in the 21st minute and he fired home a third goal on the half hour mark following good work from Liam Lawless to leave Woodview trailing 4-1 going into the break.
Woodview rallied and staged a comeback after the break.
Tiernan Mulligan forced an early corner and Luke Reynolds powerfully headed home Duffy’s excellent corner kick.
Oisin McCabe had a decent chance to extend Quay’s lead with a crisp low shot but Luke Murphy dived full length with a fingertip save, pushing the ball around the Woodview post. Kelvin Smith drilled home a third goal for Woodview 21 minutes into the second-half to leave just one goal between the sides but it was the home side who finished on top and Dylan Rooney was very unlucky not to score when he cut in from the right side and struck a fierce shot towards the Woodview goal but Luke Murphy produced another fine save.
