Navan Cosmos kept their title hopes alive with a comfortable 4-0 victory at home to an under-strength Rock Celtic at home on Sunday.

The home side scored after 20 minutes and from there the floodgates were to open.

They then scored two fortuitous goals both from rebounds after excellent stops from stand in goalkeeper Cormac Mc Ardle who could do nothing between the posts to prevent the follow-ups while the third goal arrived after Gary Lennon picked up a harsh red card.

Despite playing with 10 men, Rock tested the Cosmos goalkeeper with efforts from teenager Cillian McDonald and Neil Walsh while it took an outstanding save to deny David Ward from getting on the score sheet as the prolific forward probed, looking to add to his tally.

In the final minutes, Cosmos scored to put a flattering look on the result and ensure they give themselves hope of the championship as their win-or-bust decider with Woodview looms.

Rock Celtic: Cormac McArdle, Ed Maguire, Gary Lennon, Paddy Reilly, David Asare, David Ward, Chris Connolly, David McGeough (David Hoey), Neil Walsh, Derek Delany, Cillian McDonald (Ciaran Keenan).
