Muirhevnamor continued their unbeaten run in the U17 league after a narrow win over Quay Celtic on Saturday afternoon.

The home side showed their intent in the third minute when centre forward Stephen Sharkey crashed a fierce shot off the bottom of the post and a Rhys Shields corner was headed wide by Cormac McCartney just two minutes later.

Gino Cooney put Muirhevnamor in front on 23 minutes with a headed goal and Tomiwa Badun made it 2-0 with a close range finish 12 minutes into the second half.

Quay Celtic responded through Stephen Coleman when he poked home following Ronan Cunningham’s corner kick to make it 2-1 and with just minutes remaining Anto Lines went close to equalising but he fired over from inside the penalty area.

Stefan McNulty sealed the points for Muirhevnamor when he headed home James McKenna’s cross in the closing stages.
