Gary Clarke hit a double as Muirhevnamor came from behind to beat Abbey Celtic 4-2 at home in the Tully Bookmakers Cup on Friday night.
Sean Dixon’s side found themselves two goals down after ten minutes as the visitors opened with all guns blazing.
The comeback started after 15 minutes when Clarke hit the target after excellent work involving Brendan Hughes and Sean Conlon.
The home side drew level shortly afterwards with a penalty that Jimmy Cooney converted after Conor Gorman had put Philip Duffy in only for the midfielder to be upended by the Abbey goalkeeper who was extremely lucky not to receive a red card.
Sean Dixon had strong words with his charges at the break and it had the desired effect as two minutes after the restart his side took the lead after a terrific build up involving Conlon and Jimmy Cooney ended with substitute Ryan Dillon lashing home.
Muirhevnamor took control of the game from then on with Conlon striking the woodwork.
However Clarke had the final say when he volleyed the ball to the roof of the after a corner kick was only partially cleared.
