Ardee Celtic remain top of O’Neill’s MDL Division One after sharing the points with Black Bull in Monasterboice on Friday night.
Ardee dominated the opening exchanges but it was the home side that went 1-0 up on ten minutes from a free-kick that wasn’t dealt with by the visiting defence.
Having conceded the early goal the table toppers bombarded the Black Bull back line but a combination of bad luck and poor finishing allowed the home side to retain their lead going into the break.
The second-half opened as the first-half had finished with the mid-Louth side in total dominance and on 70 minutes they eventually made the breakthrough.
The goal came after yet another goalmouth scramble as lady luck deserted the Drogheda side and Robert McNiece managed to get a touch on the ball to help it over the line.
Having conceded the goal the home side continued to park the bus to hold on to the point and they managed to hold out and frustrate Ardee to the final whistle.
