Bellurgan United moved into the last 16 of the Tully Bookmakers Cup thanks to an excellent 3-0 win away to Boyne Harps in Monasterboice.
Alex Bothwell’s side got off to a dream start after just two minutes when Danny O’Connor and Darryn Gaynor played a one two with the latter drilling the ball to the bottom corner to open the scoring.
The visitors doubled their lead on 15 minutes and again Gaynor was involved. Following a great build up from back to front he swung in a left wing delivery for Gavin Long to power a header to the net.
Bellurgan continued to maintain the pressure and the Boyne goalkeeper made a couple of excellent saves from Diarmuid Murphy and Ciaran Rogan to keep the score at 2-0 going into the break.
The second-half saw the home side up their game but despite their best efforts they failed to breach a well organised Bellurgan defence with Keith Finnegan and goalkeeper Robert Arthur hugely impressive.
Boyne’s best effort came from a 25-yard free-kick that drew a superb save from the Bellurgan net-minder.
With 15 minutes left to play the visitors sealed the deal when substitute Karl White and Gaynor linked up and man of the match Gaynor finished off another superb move with yet another composed finish.
