A superb hat-trick by Mickey O’Kane, his third of the season, was enough to see Muirhevnamor ease past a disappointing Shamrock Youths side in Muirhevnamor last Tuesday night.
O’Kane’s first goal, a header from a super Brian Begley cross, was the only bright spot in a dull first 45 minutes.
Muirhevnamor dominated the second-half but wasted good chances with Colin Finan squandering two gilt edged opportunities.
O’Kane stuck again with 11 minutes to go when he rifled a shot to the roof of the net to make it 2-0.
A minute later he completed his hat-trick, deft footwork creating space for him to drive a low effort past Sean Smith for his 17th of the season.
This was a major step for Muirhevnamor in their quest to become the first team in history to win four Summer League titles in a row.
They have won six of the last seven trophies, Shamrocks breaking the sequence in 2009.
It will take some team to stop them.
