The U10 Cathal Mulholland Cup threw up another highly contested clash between two excellent sides, Redeemer United and Glenmuir United and it really was a shame that there had to be a runner-up.

There were no goals in a nervous first half before the large crowd in Bellew Park on Sunday morning but Glenmuir broke the deadlock two minutes into the second half when man of the match Ryan O’Kane jinked past two defenders and slotted under the advancing Redeemer ‘keeper Mickey Doyle.

The sides were level nine minutes later when Seanie Murden equalised from the penalty spot for Redeemer.

Glenmuir finished stronger and created several chances; Ryan O’Kane and Niall Kirk were both denied by two good saves by Mickey Doyle.

Extra time failed to separate the teams and the game had to be decided on penalty kicks. Redeemer got through the quarter and semi final after penalties and they did it again in the final to win 3-1.
