This very entertaining game at Gorman Park, which swung from end to end throughout the 90 minutes, yielded the first drawn match of the season last Thursday evening.
Redeemer, still smarting from the 3-1 defeat to Shamrocks stable mates’ Shamrock Youths earlier in the week, were very unlucky to be a goal down in the 35th minute.
A cruel deflection from an Owen Armstrong free kick wrong footed Dane Harrison in the home side’s nets. Armstrong has now scored in all of his sides three games so far.
Five minutes into the second half Redeemer were awarded a free and man of the match Keith Finnegan hit an unstoppable shot to level the scores.
With Paul Gartland and Tommy O’Hare marshalling their repective defences, neither side could muster up a winner.
However a minute from time Shamrocks thought they had scored the winner, but a wonderful save from Dane Harrison denied them.
Dane Harrison, Paul Gartland and Kieth Finnegan stood out for Steven Fisher’s side and Tommy O’Hare, Martin Murphy and Armstrong were Shamrocks outstanding performers.
