This match, played in a sun drenched Fatima, last Tuesday night had everything to entertain a big crowd: fast and furious football, seven goals, some wonderful moves, great saves, a penalty and a sending off.
After spurning several great chances, Muirhevnamor Youths went 1-0 ahead when Brendan Hughes nipped in between defender and goalkeeper to stab home.
Five minutes before the break David Cooney failed to hold a corner kick and Anto Reilly pounced to level the scores.
Early in the second-half Shamrocks’ Paul Adeniyi latched onto a ball over the top and coolly finished to put the home side in front before Cody Magill dispatched a penalty past Cooney to make it 3-1. Robbie Mackin’s excellent cross was then headed home by Anto Reilly to make it 4-1.
The Hoops were reduced to 10-men when Anto McLaughlin was shown a second yellow card and Thomas Conway scored direct from a corner to make it 4-2 before Derek Rogers completed the scoring.
