Muirhevnamor 2nds blasted their way into the MDL Reserve Cup final thanks to a 3-0 home win over their Rock Celtic counterparts last Wednesday night.
The Seasiders started off brightly and enjoyed plenty of possession early on with their attacking players giving Muirhevnamor plenty to think about.
Twenty minutes in, the home side settled and they took the lead five minutes later when a long ball was flicked on by Gary Clarke (above) and Damien Bailey ran on to lob his effort over the advancing goalkeeper.
Seamus O’Hagan’s side started the second-half on the front foot with Sean Dixon and Michael Bergin stamping their authority in the midfield.
And Muirhevnamor’s pressure told on the hour mark when they went 2-0 ahead. The goal was the result of some slick one touch passing between Padraig Smith and Damien Bailey outside the box which led to Bailey calmly placing the ball home for his second of the game.
Rock never looked like getting back into the tie and Muirhevnamor booked their place in the final against OMP or Rock Celtic 3rds when a powerful run by Bergin took him past three players and he slipped the ball across the six-yard box for substitute Robbie O’Hanlon to tap into an empty net.
