Rock Celtic travelled to Enniscorthy in Wexford on Saturday evening for their refixed Leinster Senior Cup game against Shamrock Rovers and they were dumped out of the competition thanks to a 92nd minute goal.

The first-half of the game saw both defences on top with very few chances on offer.

On 20 minutes Kevin McArdle dragged his shot narrowly wide when he was put through after a Paul Gore pass and five minutes before the break McArdle acted as provider for Ger McSorley who also failed to find the target.

The second half was again evenly balanced with Derek Delany and Aidan Sheehy going close while at the end John Rogers made a number of outstanding saves to keep the game scoreless. As the clock ticked down in time added on and extra time looming the home side launched one final attack which ended with Rogers picking the ball from his net, making the Rock’s journey home an even longer one than normal.

Rock Celtic: John Rogers, Mark McGeown, Ciaran Clarke, Paddy Reilly, Aidan Sheehy, Ger McSorley, Kevin McArdle, Paddy Quinn, Paul Gore, Derek Delany, Michael Osobe (Brian Kilboy).
