Dundalk got back to winning ways when they defeated bottom of the table Cavan Town 7-1 in the North East Womens Football League at Cavan Astro Park last Monday night.

The away side opened the scoring after just six minutes when Allana Kelly evaded a tackle to nip in and slot home from close range.

Most Valuable Player of the game Cianna Denedy doubled Dundalk’s lead on 17 minutes when she ran on to a long ball and fired a right foot shot into the bottom corner.

A collision in the Cavan box just before the break saw Ciara Woods step up to send Lisa Lynch the wrong way and leave the score at 0-3 at half-time.

The second-half continued in the same fashion with Dundalk dominating the midfield and creating chances for their frontline and got their fourth when Cianna Denedy broke the offside trap to fire past Lisa Lynch.

Cavan Town finally got a goal on 63 minutes when captain Laura Lynch toe poked home following a corner from Chloe Smith.

Two minutes later Dundalk had another penalty and Cianna Denedy stepped up to claim her hat-trick.

Denedy nipped in to score her fourth and Dundalk’s sixth four minutes later.

Dundalk finished off the night in style through Shauni Carraher.
