Dundalk FC Financial Director Ciaran Bond has urged the football public in Dundalk and its surrounding areas to get behind the initiative.
With attendances falling at Oriel Park, the Liverpool Legends game is one drive that the club is hoping will raise a high level of income and Bond stated that if targets are achieved, Lilywhites boss Ian Foster could be given some funding to help a late push for European qualification.
“We’re appealing to the people of Dundalk and not just the 1-2000 hardcore followers of the club. We need a wider supporter base going to the games and to help with the fundraisers. We’re always going to the same supporters and I think it’s important that the people of Dundalk, if they want a team to challenge the likes of Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers, they realise that it all boils down to one thing and that is increased revenue.”
