Dundalk Karate recently attended an IKFC Junior Lefevre Camp in Clondalkin, Dublin. Junior Lefevre is not only a European champion but a World champion and it was an opportunity not to be missed by anyone within karate.
Sensei Mary Marcus was thrilled that so many members from Dundalk Karate attended this event and even though it was held over two days, with each age and grade category catered for, it was an experience that nobody will soon forget.
Kumite (fighting) was on the agenda for everyone attending, from the basic punch, to the more advanced combinations, sweeps, takedowns and scoring techniques.
Sensei Mary said: “This was one opportunity that even I would not pass up on. Junior is the best Kumite coach I have ever trained with and as Dundalk Karate is part of the IKFC, it was fantastic that all members of Dundalk Karate could attend this event.”
“Junior is an inspiration not just to myself but to all my students”, she added.
“Everyone was not only put through their paces during each kumite session, but because Junior is such a good coach he inspired even the most novice of members to do even better when training.”
With a number of events being held over the next couple of months, Dundalk Karate will be very busy. Everybody is currently in training for their very first karate competition of 2014 which is being held by the Ballybay Karate Club in Monaghan later this month.
