Dundalk Karate members and sisters Elizabeth and Catherine Marcus were triumphant yet again as they were selected to be part of a larger team from the Ballybay Karate Club for the annual St Joseph’s Karate Club competition in Artane.

Both Elizabeth and Catherine were put under huge pressure as they came up against stiff competition in both Kata (form) and Kumite (fighting).

Elizabeth managed to come joint 4th in her Kumite section while her sister Catherine managed to beat of a number of opponents during Kumite and come away with a silver medal.

Sensei Neil O’Sullivan who selected the sisters said: “Both Elizabeth and Catherine have enormous potential and it was great to have them as part of the team from the Ballybay Karate Club”. Head of Dundalk Karate, Sensei Mary Marcus said: “It was a huge opportunity for both Elizabeth and Catherine to be part of this team and they are now looking forward to next weekend when, along with fellow members of Dundalk Karate, they travel to Moynalty Karate Club who are holding a Kata competition”.
