Dundalk Martial Arts Club showed that they are geared up for success after entering the first competition of the year, ‘The Best of the Best’ in Naas last weekend.

Representing the club was former world champion Sean O’Hare and international fighter Catherine Pearson.

Sean entered the U18 brown-black advance division where he fought his way to the final. Coming up against a fighter from a Dublin club, Sean never faulted, securing the gold medal with a win of five points to one.

Catherine entered the ladies brown-black section. In the semi-final she met a competitor from a Northern Irish club where she held the lead of the fight for the majority of it. However, after narrowly missing out on a place in the final in the last few seconds, she returned with the bronze title.

Instructor Bernard Duffy is extremely proud of both fighters, and is extremely happy with the improvement within DMAC.

A club that is open less than three months is already producing champions.
