Éadaoin McCrave is celebrating after recently picking up a silver medal at the WAKO Junior European Kickboxing Championships in Poland.

The Irish Martial Arts Academy student qualified for the Open Hand Forms event and finished in 2nd place behind a very good Russian competitor.

Ireland also took bronze with one of Éadaoin’s team-mates finishing in 3rd place.

Éadaoin has been a member of the Williamson’s Mall club for the past two years and has progressed under the excellent training of her coach Eamon Lawlor.

She qualified to represent her country at the National event held in the Citywest hotel in April this year where she entered two different categories.

In her first event, Éadaoin just missed out for qualification by the tightest margin, losing 16-15 in her points fight. However made up the disappointment by qualifying in second place in the Open Hand Forms event.

Éadaoin prepared hard for the European Championships, training up to four days a week and it made all the difference as she landed a silver medal.

Her club mates, friends and family are very proud of her achievement and are all looking forward to her attempts at qualifying for the World Championships next year.

Éadaoin would like to thank everyone in the town for their support.
