The race to become the Dundalk Stadium Winter Series Leading Jockey is building to an exciting finish.

With one meeting left in the series, Joseph O’Brien leads on 15 wins, one ahead of Conor Hoban on 14 wins.

O’Brien, Ireland’s champion jockey, has been lighting up the winter series with some great riding performances and with five booked rides last Friday night he edged ahead of Conor with two wins.

Both jockeys went head to head in four of the seven races on Friday evening at Dundalk but unfortunately Conor did not get a win on the night letting his narrow lead slip away.

It will be their performance this coming Friday, March, 21 that will determine who will be crowned leading jockey of the Dundalk Stadium Winter Series.

Defending champion Michael Halford is clear in the race to be Leading Trainer of the Dundalk Stadium Winter Series again this year. Halford is currently on 17 wins, nine wins ahead of Eddie Lynam who won the Winter Series Leading Trainer in 2012.

Jean Clerkin, Sales & Marketing Executive, Dundalk Stadium said: “We are delighted with another successful Winter Series and look forward to an exciting finish between Conor and Joseph on Friday night.”
