The action in last week’s Tuborg Dundalk Pool League centred on the Tuborg Cup matches and there were a few shocks in store for the First Division teams.
Windmill Red entertained Division Two league leaders Jackie Murphy’s and the match started well for the Windmill when Gussie Hearty beat Brian Soraghan 2-0.
However the match quickly changed when Jackie’s won the next two with victories for Tommy O’Hare and Dermot Connolly. The scores was level again when Windmill captain Tony Bellew beat Kevin Soraghan 2-0 to set up a decider between Eamonn Boyle of the Windmill and Barry Soraghan. The upset was complete when Barry won his match 2-0 to give Jackie Murphy’s a 3-2 victory.
There was another shock when bottom of Division Two Avenue Inn Swifts beat the Sportsman’s 3-2.
The match was over by the third game as the Avenue won the first three matches with victories for Keith Gorham, Glen Duffy and Andy Gray. The Sportsman’s won the last two matches with victories for Niall Donohue and Barry Keane.
