With the redevelopment of the outdoor fibre sand arena a distant memory, it is the turn of the indoor arenas at Ravensdale Lodge to get a makeover before the autumn and winter season commences at the centre in September.

The work which was carried out on the outdoor arena last year has paid dividends for the centre with large weekly entries for all outdoor leagues being the norm.

This arena, with its fibre sand surface and irrigation system, is among the finest available to competitors in the country and the ingredients used on it will be employed once again on the surface in the indoor arena.

Fibre has been delivered this week with Clive Richardson booked to carry out the ground works and mix the fibre into the existing surface. Once the fibre is mixed then the new irrigation system will do the rest and it is hoped that the arena will be ready for use by the end of the week.

The busy autumn and winter schedule begins with the two day MSL Mercedes-Benz Autumn Grand Prix horse show weekend scheduled for Saturday and Sunday September 14/15.

Together with the scheduled SJI registered, arena eventing, horse and pony training and dressage leagues it is hoped that this revamped surface will be well tested by riders to the end of the year. Speaking on the redevelopment, Niall Connolly of Ravensdale Lodge commented: “We are fully committed to riders needs at Ravensdale Lodge and our policy is to constantly maintain, upgrade and offer the best possible surfaces and facilities to all our regular competitors.

“All our leagues and individual shows are so well supported, we have a responsibility to reinvest in our surfaces and maintain our facilities to the highest standards possible.

“The work carried out on our all weather fibre sand arena last year has left us with one of the best outdoor arenas in the country and we are committed to ensuring that our indoor surfaces get a similar makeover before the season commences in September.”
