NIALL Carrie, a transition year student from Ardee Community School has been chosen to represent Ireland to go to all-expenses paid trip to Canada.

He was chosen from 900 students who participated on the Key Programme. Niall will be celebrating at the next generation Leaders conference at Queen’s School of Business Canada.

This is the first year Ardee Community School has participated in this programme. The Key Programme is an exciting cross-border and cross community initiative.

Participants are selected from post primary schools on both sides of the community north and south.

Key combines enterprise education, outdoor activities and personal development to build on participant’s future employability.

The programme is based on creating positive shared space and shared education ethos with participating schools.

Students set up a trading company to sell products at a local trade fair and learn about, sales, customer service, finance, marketing and production and work together in a diverse group.

This was a wonderful achievement for all twelve students from Ardee Community School who participated. There was a ceremony for all the students in Belfast in May when Niall was announced the overall winner.
